Compare total costs
Buying involves inspection, insurance, licensing, maintenance and eventual selling as well as the car. Rental comparisons need the actual quote, excess, distance conditions and return location. Compare vehicles with similar passenger and luggage capacity.
Include your time
Viewings and paperwork take time. Selling can take longer than expected. A short visit with fixed flights offers less flexibility than a longer stay. Do not plan on recovering the entire purchase price.
Decide your risk limit
